This resource provides learners with an interactive, online learning and simulator environment to explore electric hot water heaters and how to troubleshoot various issues homeowners may encounter. We will learn about the various faults you might find in a typical water heater installation. Most of the content cover a typical residential, 230v non-simultaneous operation electric water heater, which covers the vast majority of water heaters you'll find in a home. A few issues we'll tackle in the course include insufficient hot water, no hot water at all, or a mysterious tripping relief valve. The water heater affects multiple areas of the home, so Learners will understand where to test different issues including the kitchen sink to run water or check the temperature, the breaker panel in case there's a tripped breaker situation, outside faucets for whole house water pressure, etc. Throughout this course, Learners will access to a digital multimeter to take volt readings and draws, check voltage, and perform all the different kinds of electrical testing necessary to effectively troubleshoot this device.
